Boys' Hockey
The boys' ice hockey team had a hard season this year, finishing with a record of 15-2-1. After losing nine seniors last year, the Falcons had a very young team and welcomed seven freshmen, along with two senior captains, Parker Kazanowski and TJ Ingalls. Although the season left much to be desired, the graduating seniors will miss playing. Goaltender and captain Kian O'Leary states, "Many games were tough, and it often felt like things just didn't go our way, but the team kept showing up and competing each game. Even though the record wasn't what we hoped for, the season gave the team experience and showed areas where the Bow Falcons can improve moving forward." O'Leary was a solid and reliable goalie throughout the season and a large part of the team, as were the rest of the seniors, including Parker Kazanowski, TJ Ingalls, and Brad Ekstrom. Looking forward to next year, the Falcons hope to learn from this season and come back with a stronger, more experienced team.
Wrestling
For the third year in a row, the wrestling team takes home the DIII state championship! Not only did they win the championship, but they also sent ten athletes to the Meet of Champions! Senior captain Ryan Dolder was most happy with the progress and teamwork displayed by the Falcons. He states, "We did phenomenal, and it was our third year in a row winning states. We lost some great wrestlers, but we were able to fill those spots with promising freshmen. Everyone stepped up and played their roles, which is why we did so well." When asked what the team environment was like and what his hopes are for next year's players, he proudly said, "The team was a family this year. It felt like everyone didn't just show up because they had to participate in practice and bonding, but because they wanted to. I will miss, most of all, having teammates who look up to me for inspiration and guidance, but I hope that the new season brings them challenges they can overcome with new and stronger leadership." Although the team lost many great seniors and leaders, it's safe to say they are aiming for a fourth championship next year, and the fans can't wait to watch!
Swimming
The swim team had a great year. The Falcons were proud to have many state meet qualifiers, including junior Ava Popielarz, who says, "The Falcons put on a respectable performance at the state meet. Our several podium finishes speak for themselves, and we look forward to continuing to grow the program in the coming year." The team learned a lot this year and is ready to dive into next season.
Unified Basketball
The Unified Basketball team had another awesome year with many exciting games. With a large roster of 35 players and two managers. the eagerness of students to be partners for the athletes is apparent. Notable games for the team include a spectacular first home game against Concord, as well as the annual Unified vs. Staff game, where Leland Bourque started the game with a three-pointer. Coach Jessica Desrochers says, "Senior athletes Elora Cordier, Gabe Densmore, and Ella Wood are commended for their strong performances this season. Senior partners Izzy Densmore, Mac Morrow, and Cami Morrow had particularly strong seasons for the Falcons, and we were fortunate to gain a senior from abroad in foreign exchange student partner Yannis Debecker. Senior partners Ella Murphy and Katie Curtis provided solid partnerships as well." Bow High School can be proud of not only the numerous outstanding performances from its players, but also the support from both partners and fans. In Coach Desrochers' words, "[We are] so glad that Bow High School supports inclusion and participation in this great sport. As for the rest of the team's fans,we can't wait to see them again next year!"
Boys' Basketball
The Falcons Boys' Basketball had a great season filled with much excitement. Falcons Boys' Basketball improved to an amazing 12-6 record in the regular season, earning them the seventh seed. This placement in the standings matched them up against Lebanon in the first round, where they would battle hard and win by four points. Unfortunately, in the quarter finals against Pelham, the Bow Falcons would end up losing in a well-fought game by one single point, ending their season. There were many core and essential pieces to this team, one being Kyle Cimis. When asked about what he thought next season may look like, Kyle answered with "We will be losing [seniors] Brendan, Peyton, and Connor" (all three of which earned All-State Honors), but that "there is good talent coming up, as well as good talent already on the team." Kyle also mentioned that all 12 players are going to show up every day to work hard and that this work ethic, along with Coach Eric Saucier's coaching style, will combine to create a better season than people are expecting.
Girls' basketball
This season for Bow Girls Basketball marked the beginning of something great. Their regular season play this year was spectacular, which gave them the third seed in the tournament. They had an easy victory against Lebanon in the first round. winning by a large margin of 18 points. This win would have them face the powerful Merrimack Valley team in the quarter final round. Both teams would fight hard, and unfortunately Merrimack Valley would end up in front by two points as the final buzzer sounded. The girls had won against this skillful Merrimack Valley team in the regular season, but unfortunately couldn't pull it together this time. Bow girls Basketball had many new additions this season, including three starting freshmen, one of whom was named in All-State Honorable Mentions--Bella Berg. The star of this team, Peyton Vaughn, isn't much older than these three freshmen and earned All-State First Team honors as a sophomore. In coming years, we should be sceing many more seasons just as great as this one, or possibly even better.
Indoor track
Both the Girls' and Boys' Indoor Track teams were filled with talent this year, each having a state champion. For the boys team, Gavin Buxton was crowned state champion for the 55 meter dash in division two, with a time of 6.52 seconds; and for the girls team, Camden Wilson was crowned state champion for high jump in division two, with a winning height of 5'4". Unfortunately, the same amount of success wasn't seen for the girls 4x800 relay team. The girls 4x800 relay team placed seventh in states after going into the meet placed 6th. When asked about what she thought could potentially happen in future years for the girls 4x800 relay, relay runner Mary Valas replied, "We have some great athletes, hopefully this next year we will make first or runners up." Overall, this season for indoor track was a great success, and next year is looking like it will be filled with success as well.
Alpine Skiing
Both of the Bow Falcons Skiing teams had many successes, as well as some challenges. The girls team had great placement in states, getting fourth out of the ten teams at the meet, unfortunately the boys couldn't pull it together, placing last out of ten. Junior Oliver Weiss said that a big reason for this placement was "due to trouble finishing the second race" despite the team "being strong." Oliver Weiss was also the only one that finished for the team during states. However, Cavot Blaney was still able to move on to the Meet Of Champions despite not finishing in states. On a brighter note, the girls' great performance in states led to two racers being selected to move on to the Meet Of Champions, those two racers being Sierra Scull and Madelyn Hebert. Madelyn Hebert would go on to place 9th in MOCs, and Sierra would not place. It is important to mention that neither team had any seniors, so both teams should be more skilled when it comes to next year.
