Unified Soccer

The Bow Falcons Unified Soccer team had a great year filled with exciting games. Some key moments include Leland Borque scoring a goal against Souhegan with a perfect kick to the upper part of the net, Shannon McGrade controlling midfield, and Jameson Smith creating multiple scoring opportunities. While players such as Gabe Densmore and Tiernan O’Meara scored multiple times, Elora Cordier and Emma Valas stood tall in net. Partner Zach Johnson had a lot to say about the season, stating, “We did very well and played as a team. Also, Mr. Fisk and all of the assistant coaches were wonderful.” To cap off the season, Bow played in strong outings against Concord High and Souhegan. Denny McKinnon was named Rookie of the Year. This season was filled with laughs and cheers, and it was definitely one to remember.

Cross Country

The Bow High Cross Country team had a season to remember. For the girls, senior and captain Hannah Pawlowski was a powerhouse on the course. Pawlowski received a medal in every race where they were being given out. Hannah finished in 11th place in the state for Division Two and qualified for the Meet of Champions where she finished 31st in the state across all divisions and had a new personal best time of 19:45.69. This season, the team participated in the Moonlight Madness Meet at the Cheshire Fairgrounds where they sported face paint and glow sticks as they ran through the night. It wasn’t all fun and games though, as the girls seemed to have injury after injury but nonetheless, were able to push through and send runners Hannah Pawlowski, Lena Thompson, who was also captain, Maya Owen, Madelyn Fish, Sarah Franklin, and Claire Ulrich to the state meet. Coach David Niemaszyk was happy with his team and said, “Despite a roller coaster of a season, we fought hard and ended up having performances we could be proud of to end the season at the state meet.” The boys team also had a good season. Team captains Jack Kohl and Jack Noce led the team to a 7th place finish in Division Two as a team. Junior Wyatt Worcester raced at the Meet of Champions, and finished 68th place with a time of 16:58. Niemaszyk said “proud” is the word Bow students would use to describe their thoughts on this cross country season.

Golf

This year, the Bow golf team finished in second place for Division Two in the regular season with an outstanding record of 22-4. The team finished fifth in the state championship. The Bow team came out of the gates hot for the first half of the season, going undefeated until an outing at Kingswood where they came second to Portsmouth by just three strokes. This season's captains were Andre Contreras and Owen Webber. Owen qualified for the individual championship and tied for 10th place. Webber was also one of the season's top scorers alongside sophomore Jacob Gancarz. Gancarz said, “We lost four great seniors. Owen Webber, Mikey Magdziasz, Andre Contreras, and Trevor Carter on JV. It was great to play with them and we'll miss them next year.”

Bass Fishing

The Bass Fishing team had a great time this year and participated in several team tournaments on various lakes and rivers. Bow sent three boats to Coe Brown for their homecoming tournament where just the two schools participated. Bow secured all three spots on the podium with Angelo Constant and Colby Rae finishing first, Ethan Herrick finishing second, and Tyler Pierpont and Bryce Goodreau finishing third. Bow then went to a 27 boat tournament out of Shep Brown’s Marina on Lake Winnipesaukee. This was a big event and once again Bow was represented well and was the only school to have multiple teams finish in the top 10. Ethan Herrick and Garrett Landers finished 4th and Devin Sprague and Nate Kiah finished 6th overall. Bruce Goodreau and Colby Rae also finished in 11th place. Ethan and Garrett represented BHS in the State Qualifier on Thursday, September 26. It was a tough day of fishing for the Falcons as it was pouring rain all day. The Falcons caught six keepers and finished 15th out of 32 boats, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to qualify for the State Championship the following weekend. Coach Ben Forbes thought highly of his team and said, “Overall this was a very successful season with most of the team getting to fish in competitive tournaments. We placed well overall and the anglers learned a lot. Special thanks to the volunteer boat captains/coaches for supporting the program and the kids.” After another great year of fishing, I’m sure we can all agree that this season was a keeper.

Field Hockey

Field Hockey has had another strong season, going 12-3-1 in regular season play. Bow beat Souhegan in the quarterfinals but fell short against Hollis-Brookline in the semi-finals. This was field hockey’s second year in a row having a final four appearance. Bow’s five starting seniors Ella Gray, Kayla Croscut, Caly Poitras, Sophie Coombs and Kylie McKee all had an outstanding final year. Kayla Croscut couldn’t have been a better goalkeeper, giving up just sixteen goals for the season. Both junior Josie Johnson and sophomore Kaylee Jaques made first team all state, and freshman Peyton Vaughn made second team all state. Sophomores Madelyn Hebert and Shire Kelley controlled the midfield play all the way to the opposing net the whole year. Freshman Peyton Vaughn and Elise Jacques also brought speed and endurance to the team. This was a great season for the Bow Falcons Field Hockey team and will be a hard one to beat in the future.

Cheer

The Bow Varsity Cheer team said goodbye to some great seniors last year but also said hello to freshmen who were excited to learn about cheer. It was an exciting season full of hard work, dedication and learning.  Coach Lauren Rush really appreciated the leadership shown by her older members. “Our seasoned cheerleaders have really taken to mentoring the younger classmen this season. The personal growth on the team is our biggest accomplishment.” We’ve all enjoyed watching the fall competition, which allowed new athletes to show off the amazing techniques they had learned this season and we are all eager to see what these athletes have in store for us next year.
