This year at BHS, we had many excellent new teachers join our school faculty and staff, including Mr. Matthew Fisk, our new assistant principal. I had the pleasure of interviewing him and learning more about his life, both inside and outside of BHS.
After high school, Mr. Fisk attended UNH (Go Wildcats!), where he earned his Bachelor's degree in history and his Master's in Education. After college, he worked as a history teacher at Concord High School for eight years. Following that, he worked as a History and English teacher at New Hampton School for three years, until he was promoted to the school's Academic Dean for the last six years.
Mr. Fisk has two sons. The eldest enjoys theater and arts whereas the youngest enjoys athletics. Mr. Fisk himself also has an interest in music—specifically concerts and athletics. Currently, he is in training for his sixth marathon!
Mr. Fisk has enjoyed working at BHS so far, and he sees a bright future for the school.
"I'm loving it! I'm definitely psyched every day that I come to work," he said. "I've been totally blown away by how great the students have been...even when coming in late they are always super polite." He appreciates having one-on-one conversations with students and learning more about them.
Mr. Fisk has many goals that he would like to achieve at BHS, including continuing and expanding co-curricular activities such as Ping Pong Club and Arts with a Purpose. By having more students involved in clubs and activities throughout the community, he believes students will also excel in classes. He also wants to develop flexible academic schedules for students, which will allow them to earn credits in ways beyond the traditional classroom.
We are very thankful to have Mr. Fisk in the Bow High community and we are thrilled to see what awaits us in the future.
